Calculating your company's headcount, retention rate and tenure in Charlie just got easier!

Get easy, at-a-glance information from our dashboard reporting metrics to give you a snapshot of your company's headcount, tenure, and retention rate on Charlie- no more manual calculations needed!

Note: Team member start dates need to be populated for their inclusion in reports.

Headcount report:

Easily see how many people are employed at your company!

This metric is split into two numbers- showcasing your permanent employees vs your freelancers as of the end date selected.

The arrows/trend numbers show the change from the filter start date selected.

How do we calculate this?

How many team members are on your account as of the end date selected (default today), where they have a start date that is before this date with either no offboarding date or an offboarding date greater than this date.

Tenure Report:

See the average length of time team members spend at your company at a glance right on your reporting dashboard!

It includes all team members active in the time frame selected (including those who have been offboarded) and is true as of the end date selected. It does not include team members that have been deleted from Charlie.

How do we calculate this?

The sum of the tenure of all active team members in this date range as of the end date selected/ All active team members in this date range (i.e. their onboarding date is < end date and their offboarding date is > start date)

Note: if someone was re-activated during this period they won't be counted twice. We divide by the number of team members NOT the number of start dates during this period.

How do we calculate this?

Number of people who were working at your company on this day last year who are still working today / the number of people who were working this day last year

Key figures:

Joiners- number of team members with a start date in the past year

Leavers- number of team members with an end date before today and less than a year ago

Turnover rate:

See the turnover rate for your whole company.

How do we calculate this?

(Total leavers in the time period / Average total team members in the time period) x 100

Average total team members calculated as:

(Total active team members at the start of the time period - Total active team members at the end of the time period) / 2)

By default, the time period will be the last 365 days however, you can filter to view this metric as of a date range!

Headcount graph

See how your headcount has changed month on month or use the filter to select an alternative time frame.

This shows:

  • the headcount as of the last date in the month ( or the last date in the time period shown on the X-axis if a smaller date range is selected)

  • Hover over the bars to see the leavers and joiners in this time frame

Note: The data point on the headcount graph is taken on the last day of the month. So if the report is for 6th of October 2022 - 6th of October 2023 the graph will show the total headcount on the 31st of October.
