Enabling Time Off Types Through Leave Policies

Guidance on how to include specific leave types to the leave policies assigned to your team

Note: Only Admins and Super Admins can view, manage or edit Time off settings on Charlie

Charlie enables you to create custom time off types for all the different types of leave you offer at your organisation. You have the ability to assign specific allowances, as well as assign specific leave types to a selected policy which by extension makes those leave types available only to the individuals assigned to that leave policy.

To do this:

  1. Head to your Time tab

  2. Then Settings

  3. Find the leave policy you wish to work on

  4. Click the pencil icon to begin editing

  5. Scroll until you see the leave types section, and begin selecting which leave types you wish to include in that policy.

    1. Here you will also have the ability to make edit to the leave type

  6. Once you have made all the edits click "Update"

And just like that you are all done!


Please do note:

In the situation where a team member has a previous or upcoming leave policy that does give them access to a leave type, it'll be visible on the dropdown. However, they will be able to submit requests for that leave type within the date range of the policy that includes it.

So for example if your upcoming policy includes sabbatical leave from next year but you try to book it tomorrow, this is the error message they will be shown.
